Dunvegan Castle... ancient home of Clan McLeod, and still inhabited
by the current clan chief, John McLeod. On the shores of the Isle of
Skye in western Scotland, it stands as a living reminder that what
we think of as history is not really so ancient after all. Those who
have gone before us -- our forefathers of blood and of faith -- are
as intrinsically woven into the fabric of our lives as the various
threads of wool are woven together to form a tartan. Their
contributions to our lives bring strength, color, and usefulness to
the pattern of our 'cloth.' They are part of us, and cannot be woven
out. Their influence on us is greater than we know and we are wise
if we realize and appreciate their importance in our lives.
